Cycling Clubs & Groups: Looking for riding partner in Orange, CA

    I am a slightly more than beginner rider, trying to work myself up to riding some centuries by the end of the year. Looking for someone with similar motivation, perhaps that is a little more experienced than I am to push me.

     I need to work on drafting, gearing etc...

    I too would like to ride with a few others but am to intimidated to ride with an elite club. I avg. 16 mph and do about 30 mile rides. My profile is open to check. I usually ride the santa ana river bed.

    Hi milagro33.  You might want to checkout the Bike Club of Irvine (BCI).  I like to ride either with BCI or Orange County Wheelman's (OCW).  I could understand where OCW might be a little intimidating because they tend to push themselves really hard.  Not so much with BCI, you would fit right in with BCI because they tend to tailor to a wider variety of riders.  They have 3 rides that start at Deerfield Park every saturday morning at 9AM.  Each ride tends to break off into groups with similar paces. Their web site is:

    For OC based riders you may want to check out BCI - Bicycle Club of Irvine and OCW - Orange County Wheelmen for some moderate weekend rides.

    Or try http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/saddleback_road_cycling/ and the Saddleback Cycling group. I ride with them when not seriously training. They do rides to HB, Newport, Laguna, plenty of Irvine based Saturday rides for new and non-racing riders, as well as rides further south to Oceanside.

     Milagro33 you could easily meet up to the Irvine rides when they head into Santa Ana / Anaheim or meet them along PCH towards HB.

     They always have a coffee/food stop point along the route.
